#RemakeLearning @ #CLS2018
What happens when a few dozen Pittsburgher's swarm Cambridge, MA for a week in August?
Last week, more than twenty Remake Learning network members attended the Connected Learning Summit at MIT Media Lab in Cambridge, MA. The summit (#CLS2018 on Twitter) brings together educators, designers, researchers, and developers from around the world. Everyone at the summit is interested in the intersection of digital media, youth culture, and learning. As the conference literature has it, the gathering is for “innovators harnessing emerging technology to expand access to participatory, playful, and creative learning.”
Remake Learning members led no fewer than 7 scheduled sessions at the conference where they shared insights and learnings from their work to advance engaging, relevant, and equitable learning here in the Pittsburgh region. Among the highlights, network member Michelle King (AKA the Learning Instigator) brought the house down during the Friday keynote:
I did not capture enough of the amazingness that was @LrningInstigatr talk today. But I am left with this wonderful design question to bring back home with me to the Boogie Down BX. #CLS2018 pic.twitter.com/thaOuSJ6t2

So inspired by this morning’s keynote at #CLS2018. Do you think @LrningInstigatr would be willing to give me a pep talk every morning until I am ready to internalize her message? Via podcast would be cool!

Enjoyed learning about @arianariccio‘s research at @TechKidsU–a nonprofit teaching #CS to students in NYC with exceptionalities. Interesting model to explore as PA expands CS opportunities for all: https://t.co/yeg2MaxYB4 #CLS2018 @saiorsemaria @QuercusPrinus #CSforALLPA
