A new grantmaking and storytelling campaign calls upon communities to help forge a future where each day holds promise for every learner – where youth, families, and educators connect timeless ideas and new ways of learning to prepare for what comes next, no matter what tomorrow might bring.
The future will ask today’s youth to make and do what’s never been done before and to be the thinkers who solve tomorrow’s problems. Learning is how they’ll prepare. At this vital inflection point when education is being dramatically reshaped, join us as we explore what the learning of Tomorrow could hold.
Powered by Remake Learning, the Tomorrow campaign will explore not only how we can do things better, but how we can do better things, with equity at the center of the conversation. Remake Learning — a network of more than 500 schools, museums, libraries, afterschool programs, and more — is supporting educators and innovators as they develop new ways to meet the changing needs of learners.
Combining the human-centered work of Fred Rogers with the forward-thinking education innovation being pioneered throughout Pittsburgh, the Tomorrow campaign brings:
- Grants to support the future of learning, like Remake Learning’s Ignite Grants, which help educators in southwestern Pennsylvania launch, strengthen, or re-energize innovative learning practices, and 143 anonymous grants of $1,000, made to in- and out-of-school educators across the country, including the 15 cities that are partners in hosting Remake Learning Days Across America. Grants recognize educators who are teaching and caring in early learning through higher education and embrace the love and forward-thinking approaches of Pittsburgh’s best-ever neighbor, Fred Rogers.
- Events and community conversations for educators, students, and families, including a virtual launch rally on May 22, which marks the “143 Day” celebration of Mister Rogers in Pennsylvania. The launch will call on educators, families, and all learning advocates across the country to take to social media and share what they believe can be done today to make tomorrow a more promising place for every learner. Participants can join by posting their ideas with #RemakeTomorrow and tagging @RemakeLearning.
- A steady stream of weekly written stories, youth documentaries, videos, and podcasts, running May through October, to explore where learning stands today, what progress might be ahead, and how COVID-19 is impacting and accelerating this work.
The greater Pittsburgh region is among the leading communities in the world charting the future of learning. The people and communities of the region, together with Pittsburgh’s unique mix of strengths in education, research, innovation and philanthropy, make this possible. Much ground has been broken, and much more needs to be done to ensure each and every learner can benefit.
