Civic Engagement – Remake Learning

The 2026 Future-Focused Learning Summit isn’t a conference about AI. It’s a conference about what school needs to be and how AI changes the equation. AI is both the reason these human outcomes matter more than ever and the tool that can help us deliver on them.

The Future-Focused Learning Summit brings together classroom teachers, coaches, administrators, higher ed faculty, and community partners for a single day built around four outcomes that matter: being known, doing real work, growing through others, and navigating uncertainty. Whether you teach kindergarten or lead a district, you’ll work from the same framework as everyone else in the room.

Sessions are led by practitioners who have done the work. Expect honest conversations about what’s working, what isn’t, and what comes next. Expect to leave with something you can try the following week.

The arts have a home here. The four pillars describe what arts educators have practiced for generations. If you’re an arts educator or someone who brings the arts into your practice, you belong at this summit.

Discover the fascinating history of chocolate with American Heritage Chocolate historian Dave Borghesani, complete with historic tastings and ideas for bringing this delicious story into your classroom.

Journey through Planet Ice: Mysteries of the Ice Ages on a guided tour, where you’ll learn how Ice Age people hunted for food and complete a prehistoric trail mix activity.

Explore Pittsburgh’s culinary past in the Detre Library & Archives during a primary source workshop featuring food-related collections.

Connect with the Learning Team to learn about field trips, classroom resources, outreach programs, and educational opportunities available for your students.

Enjoy complimentary light refreshments and cocktails while networking with fellow educators and discovering new ways to make history meaningful for learners of all ages!

Admission
The open house is free for educators with advance registration. For an additional fee, teachers can receive two hours of Act 48 credits.

The first 50 teachers to register will receive Act 48 credits for no additional charge.

Titled “Imagining the Future of Local Production,” this Gathering will be like prom for people who love local manufacturing and production.

Mechanism creates a joyous space where makers, manufacturers, policymakers, community educators, artists, faith organizations, community leaders, and more work together to strategize and dream about what’s possible when production is rooted in community, care, and shared stewardship.

With local tours, rapid share presentations by thought leaders in modern production practices, and a Design Jam where participants will identify creative ways to turn underutilized urban spaces into spaces for community-led production, it’s the type of conference that goes far beyond just sitting and listening.

Formerly called the Urban Manufacturing Alliance, Mechanism is one of the only nonprofits in the U.S. working in collaboration with communities and manufacturers to create production ecosystems that increase local resilience, vitality, and well-being. The Pittsburgh 2050: Comprehensive Plan team is hosting a “Public Forum on a Just Transition”. At this gathering, we’ll explore what a “Just Transition” means for our communities:

Ensuring new development benefits current residents
Creating job opportunities across all neighborhoods
Implementing environmental improvements citywide
Giving all communities a meaningful voice in decisions

During the event, you’ll have the chance to learn about the citywide plan, connect with like-minded neighbors, and understand alot more about Pittsburgh’s changes.

Our budding mentorship program at Dreams of Hope offers you the opportunity to mentor queer & Trans young people. With daily transgressions against our humanity, we look to our community for models of leadership and care across generations!

If you want to share your journey, talents, and wisdom and impact a young person’s life, consider attending Dreams of Hope’s Mentor Training! The inaugural training with Dakota Rottino-Garilli is the first step to getting involved in our mentorship program as an adult mentor. We’re excited to have you!
