Public Forum on a Just Transition

The Pittsburgh 2050: Comprehensive Plan team is hosting a “Public Forum on a Just Transition”. At this gathering, we’ll explore what a “Just Transition” means for our communities:

Ensuring new development benefits current residents
Creating job opportunities across all neighborhoods
Implementing environmental improvements citywide
Giving all communities a meaningful voice in decisions

During the event, you’ll have the chance to learn about the citywide plan, connect with like-minded neighbors, and understand alot more about Pittsburgh’s changes.

Mentor Training with Dreams of Hope

Our budding mentorship program at Dreams of Hope offers you the opportunity to mentor queer & Trans young people. With daily transgressions against our humanity, we look to our community for models of leadership and care across generations!

If you want to share your journey, talents, and wisdom and impact a young person’s life, consider attending Dreams of Hope’s Mentor Training! The inaugural training with Dakota Rottino-Garilli is the first step to getting involved in our mentorship program as an adult mentor. We’re excited to have you!

to benefit society in many ways. See demonstrations of AI research in robotics, education,
agriculture, physical sciences, weather, and many other areas – and how we make ethical
decisions about the use of AI.

ABOUT THE AI INSTITUTES
The National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Agriculture-NIFA began establishing AI Institutes in 2020 to serve as national nexus points for collaborative AI efforts spanning higher education institutions, federal agencies, industry, and nonprofits/foundations. These 25 AI Institutes will showcase their research at AI Institutes Expo Day.

A Seat at the Grown-up Table: Youth-Adult Partnerships for Inclusive and Sustainable Decision-Making

Are you ready to elevate the voices of young people in Pittsburgh and help shape a community where everyone feels heard, valued, and engaged? Join us for a dynamic and interactive workshop led by the brilliant youth facilitators of the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh!

This is an opportunity to learn effective youth-adult partnership strategies and examine ways to amplify youth participation in community discourse and decision-making. By attending, you’ll gain practical tools to amplify youth voices in your own work, build stronger intergenerational partnerships, and contribute to an equitable and vibrant civic environment across our region.

Learn from young leaders who are already making waves in our community. Meet Kenza, Natalia, Eva, and Morgan–dynamic youth facilitators who bring their passion for civic engagement to life–from founding community programs to making an impact on global issues, these youth leaders are reshaping the future.

Agenda:

  • 4:30-5:00 PM: Arrival and Check-in
  • 5:00-7:00 PM: World Affairs Council’s Youth Fellows and Board Members lead:
    • Interactive simulation on power, decision-making, and systems change
    • Presentation on amplifying youth voices and effective youth-adult partnerships
    • Small group discussions and activities
  • 7:00-8:00 PM: Mix and Mingle Reception
