Science on the Ice: A Design Charrette for Teachers

Join teachers from all over Western PA and WV as we brainstorm fun and engaging 2nd and 3rd grade science activities that incorporate hockey and hands-on experiences to inspire a lifelong interest in Science and STEAM. Gain inspiration throughout the day with opportunities to play, get on the ice, and win prizes!  

Participating educators will work on teams to develop ideas for lessons and activities that bring the new STEELS standards to life using hockey. In the fall, they will receive two lessons and activities to try with their students and share feedback.

 Upon completion, teachers will receive up to 10 Act 48 hours and:

 ·       A stipend of $500

·       An invitation to our “Stanley Cup” Celebration at MuseumLab @ Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh

·       Their own copy of the final Science Champions kit created with their fabulous ideas!

 APPLY TODAY! We are seeking a mix of 40 teachers to maximize brainstorming, so educators of all disciplines, grades, and levels of are encouraged to apply. We will notify team members and alternates by March 15!
