Study of Teen Experiences that Promote Success (STEPS)
We at the Study of Teen Experiences that Promote Success (STEPS) are currently recruiting teens ages 13 to 15 and their parent/caregiver in order to better understand how different economic circumstances faced by different types of families affect adolescent well-being and mental health. Both teens and their parent/caregiver take 7 online surveys total over two years and are compensated after each one.
For students and families, this is a great opportunity to have their voices heard. Parents may develop new insights into their teens’ behaviors and aspirations. Teens may also develop new insights into their own goals, experiences, and behaviors. Additionally parents and teens can earn up to $195 each for completing the whole study and it is completely remote.
For educators: We are also looking to avoid a one-way approach to recruitment and our lab staff and faculty are happy to help educators who share this opportunity with their students and families in anyway. We have several experiences researchers and professors in Psychology, Education and other fields who could come give lectures to classes, talk about careers in research or provide resources!
