“Learning Without Walls” Conference Presenter Opportunity

The Southwest PA Environmental Literacy Hub is looking for presenters and/or exhibitors for our 2025 Outdoor Learning and Environmental Education Summit, “Learning Without Walls”.  This summit is scheduled for June 10-11, 2025 at Waynesburg University.

Our primary goal for the conference is to empower educators of Southwest PA and contiguous West Virginia counties with the knowledge, tools, and inspiration they need to integrate environmental literacy and sustainability and outdoor learning experiences into their curricula and teaching practices.  We will bring together passionate educators from diverse backgrounds and environmental professions to foster a community of environmentally conscious and engaged teachers who can, in turn, inspire and educate the next generation of environmentally responsible citizens.
Our conference provides you with an opportunity to present a 45 minute breakout session and a table for displaying of resources.  The themes for these sessions are as follows.
Best Practices for Teaching Outdoors and Implementing ELS
 
Sessions could include:
  • Strategies and best practices for classroom and outdoor instruction
  • Effective strategies for supporting the “ELS” of the PA STEELS Standards

Environmental Sustainability & Stewardship

 
Sessions could include:
  • Model Programs for project-based learning focused on environmental conservation
  • Student-led initiatives for sustainability
  • Model Programs that partnering with community organizations
  • Demonstrations of tools such as iNaturalist, GIS, or similar tools

STEM and Outdoor Learning

 
Sessions could include:
  • Exploring the intersection of STEM and the natural world
  • Technology tools to enhance environmental education
  • Aquaponics, renewable energy, and other sustainable STEM applications
