We are materials exploration experts, helping educators and caregivers get comfortable with setting up simple experiences that allow you to see and trust children as capable and creative. We’ll go deep and explore with you all the possibilities for loose parts, dramatic play, and process art using the standard, most basic supplies. Yes, we’re talking about crayons, markers, staplers, copy paper, cardboard, recyclables, and anything else that is free or very low-cost. Get your creative juices flowing, enhance academic skills bring joy to your learning space, and help children learn that anything can be anything!
This workshop is part of a 5 part series focused on building a practice around open ended art and play in the classroom. We will cover the differences between directed and open experiences, designing the physical environment for joy and creativity, using just the basics in materials exploration, documentation of learning in art and play, and finding joy and purpose in our practice as educators. The 5 workshops are available live virtually or in a convenient portal on The Creativity Project website with unlimited access.
