Rene Canady

Rene is a hands-on innovator with a background in wearable medtech and sociotechnical research on engineering culture and equity in STEM. She has designed and built projects in academic labs, taught design through self-inquiry, and helped cultivate inclusive, creative problem-solvers. As CEO and Founder of Equity Systems Biodesign Consulting, Rene advises healthtech teams on translating user needs and equity goals into tangible, early-stage products—balancing technical feasibility with justice-centered design. She stays on top of FDA guidance, health policy, and AI ethics to help teams make informed, future-ready decisions. Rene holds a B.S.E. in Bioengineering with a French minor and an M.A. in Sociology, blending engineering precision with social insight to create products that work for everyone. Outside the lab, she enjoys exploring new cities, playing soccer, practicing yoga, and connecting with the outdoors.
