Euducator at Carnegie Museum of Natural History

An English Major by formal training, Pat McShea has worked as an educator at Carnegie Museum of Natural History since 1985, managing the museum’s extensive Learning Collection for more than three decades. He has collaborated with fellow educators at organizations throughout western Pennsylvania to plan and present teacher workshops. McShea’s professional service includes serving as a grant proposal field reviewer for the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS), and his volunteer contributions include ten years of service on the Steering Council of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Regional Math & Science Collaborative and nine years of service on the Board of Directors of the Allegheny Land Trust. McShea moved to parttime status at museum in 2024. The native Pittsburgher and Allegheny College graduate enjoys hiking, canoeing, watching birds, deer hunting, and writing.
