Michael Steiner
A transformational executive with 35+ years of experience leading organizations, forging global partnerships, and driving systemic change in education, workforce development, community impact, and civil society.
Now, as President & CEO of the Richard G. Snyder YMCA of Armstrong County, I am leading a new chapter of community-centered transformation focused on strategic growth, cross-sector partnerships, youth development, wellness, and future-ready learning opportunities that strengthen both people and place.
At BEST Robotics, I led a national transformation in STEM education, expanding the program’s focus to meta-skills and future-ready competencies, advancing the shift to open-source platforms, and integrating AI with human learning. I built strategic partnerships with Amazon, Toyota USA Foundation, MathWorks, TVA, and Texas Instruments, while strengthening collaboration among investors, educators, volunteers, and students to ensure resilience through and beyond COVID.
As Vice President of Global Strategy at Carnegie Mellon University (iCarnegie Learning), I served as chief advisor to the President & CEO, negotiating a landmark $100M international partnership to establish Innopolis University, a flagship hub for higher education innovation, technology, and cross-border collaboration. I also oversaw complex, multi-stream financial models that aligned growth, sustainability, and long-term impact.
Earlier, as Executive Director & Chair of AJJDC Moscow & Central Russia, I helped lead civil society rebuilding across the Former Soviet Union, directing education, workforce, social welfare, and leadership initiatives that reached hundreds of thousands of people. I partnered with governments, governors, and foundations, while contributing to legislative advancement alongside President Boris Yeltsin’s administration and strengthening community infrastructure in a pivotal post-Soviet era.
As Founder of Your Global Strategy, I advised organizations on disruption, innovation strategy, and resilience across industries. My work with CreativeMornings Pittsburgh reflected my belief in the power of creativity and community to drive cultural change and inclusive leadership.
My mission has remained constant: to equip people and institutions with the vision, partnerships, and resilience needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
