Michael Christel

Teaching Professor at Carnegie Mellon University Entertainment Technology Center

I teach in the professional master's program Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) at CMU. I work to improve digital humanities scholarship as well as address racial bias and privilege through games and interfaces, with relevance to CMU's push for diversity and inclusion and The Collaboratory Against Hate (CAH) with Pitt. I continue to work with Chicago's The HistoryMakers, the world's largest African American oral history archive, to broaden the voices heard in educational works. I support and encourage transformational experience development, including educational games that often target audiences within the K-12 range, at the ETC. I support community outreach from the ETC so that such experience development can be playtested regularly, helping our students learn the value of iterative development informed by playtesting.
