K-5 Literacy Coach & Adjunct Professor at North Allegheny School District & Duquesne University

Dr. Marguerite Haldin is a graduate of California University of PA ('09, '11) and Duquesne University ('19). She has taught in the capacity of ELA and Science teacher in both private, charter, and public schools. She has served as a K-12 Reading Specialist in the non-public schools program at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, and currently serves as the K-5 literacy coach at North Allegheny School District. She previously served as both undergraduate and alumni board member on the Student Association Inc. at California University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, Dr. Haldin served as the student trustee on the Council of Trustees at California University of Pennsylvania. Her dissertation topic was titled, "The Beliefs Literacy Specialist Hold Regarding Processes that Assist Struggling Readers with the Comprehension of Informational Text". Her research on self-efficacy, comprehension, and metacognition led her to build connections with other researchers such as Dr. Molly Ness, where she served on a planning committee for the 2022 Literacy Equity Virtual Conference. Most recently, Dr. Haldin has been instrumental in the planning, preparation, and delivery of Structured Literacy Professional Development for K-8 teachers in a large suburban school district. She has also served as adjunct faculty at Duquesne University, teaching graduate coursework on Literacy Theory, Assessment, Disciplinary Literacy, and Literacy Development. Additionally, Marguerite serves as a Storyworks Teacher Advisory Board member.
