Lou Karas is a determined administrator and evaluator of arts and education programs with nearly 30 years of experience remaking learning. Lourdes (Lou) A. Karas serves as the Executive Director of the Appalachian Education Initiative and Director of the Center for Arts & Education at West Liberty University. With nearly thirty years of experience in the administration, design and evaluation of arts and education programs, she applies unmatched professional qualifications and working knowledge to the many existing and future courses of action the two organizations. In the past, Lou has served as Interim Executive Director with the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, as well as the Director of Education and Special Programs for The Kingsley Association. An active member of the non-profit and arts community as well, Lou serves on the board of Arts Advocacy West Virginia and Arts Monongahela. She earned a bachelor's degree from Allegheny College and her master's in education from the University of Pittsburgh.
