Kelsey Derringer
Kelsey Derringer is an education innovator based in Pittsburgh, PA, and she’s on a mission to revolutionize learning from both inside and outside the classroom. Most recently, in 2019 she co-founded CodeJoy, an educational media company serving students and teachers globally with innovative virtual educational experiences. Throughout over 20 years of experience in education, she’s dedicated her career to making education more equitable, engaging, and downright fun for teachers and students alike.
Starting as an English teacher in Iowa and Missouri, Kelsey's move to Pittsburgh in 2014 and her subsequent work with organizations like the Carnegie Science Center, YWCA, and BirdBrain Technologies led her to STEM education, and specifically coding and robotics as a powerful avenue for student and teacher creativity and empowerment. As a dynamic public speaker, Kelsey has energized audiences at local and national conferences, sharing her vision for a more creative and accessible approach to technology education.
Through CodeJoy’s virtual programming for students and teachers, Kelsey has impacted tens of thousands of teachers and their classrooms, proving that when you support a teacher, you support an entire community.
