Emily Blair is a passionate advocate for high-quality, equitable education for all learners. As the Director of Education at Pittsburgh's Latino Community Center (LCC), Emily develops and oversees educational programming designed to empower Latinx children and youth to be proud of their cultural heritage and to achieve their dreams. Emily is committed to ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed, with a specialization focusing on multilingual learners and immigrant students. In her seventeenth year of investing in at-promise youth, Emily loves her work with students and families. She chose her path in middle school, and she has never looked back! Prior to her time at the LCC, Emily worked in public education in Raleigh, NC teaching third grade, English as a Second language (ESL), Spanish, and training ESL teachers. Emily studied Spanish and taught English in México, and she had such wonderful experiences that she chose to obtain her Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction: ESL. Emily also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Spanish, a Professional Certificate in Nonprofit Management, and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Public Policy and Leadership. Emily's commitment to growth and improvement in the region is not limited to her professional role, as Emily is also on the Girls on the Run Advisory Board and she serves as the Missions and Outreach Coordinator at the North Way City Campus. A Pittsburgh native, Emily is excited to be part of the growth and change in her hometown by contributing to the positive advancement of education in the region!
