Anne Olson serves as Director of State Advocacy at KnowledgeWorks. In this role, she works in coalition with states to find opportunities to scale personalized learning through policy change, often facilitating dialogue between advocacy organizations, school districts, state education agencies, and legislators. She has a strong commitment to making learning relevant and beneficial for every student, and focuses much of her energy on creating a more equitable education system by understanding how learners engage with the world beyond academics. Prior to this position, Anne worked in corporate communications and as a nonprofit lobbyist in Texas working specifically on policies that alleviate food insecurity and combat domestic human trafficking in the state. Anne holds a master’s of social work with a concentration in policy practice and administration from the University of Denver and has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Southwestern University. She currently serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work. Anne lives in Denver, Colorado, so is engaging in this work from afar. She can often be found chatting with neighbors over the fence, cycling, or enjoying the great outdoors with her retired racing greyhound, Phoebe. Anne co-leads Remake Learning's Personalized Learning Working Group.
