
Andrew Medlar

Andrew Medlar leads the operations and strategic direction of one of the nation’s most innovative urban library systems, working alongside more than 450 staff members across 20 locations. As President & Director of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, he advances the Library’s mission to foster literacy, enable exploration, and create connections with all community members, and also oversees shared library services across Allegheny County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Andrew is past president of the Association for Library Service to Children, recipient of the Davis Cup for outstanding contributions in library service to young people, and instructor of children’s literature at Dominican University, and has been named a Distinguished Alumnus by Rutgers University. He brings to his work a deep commitment to equity, lifelong learning, and public access to knowledge.
