With the support of the Grable Foundation, the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media at Saint Vincent College spent two years learning from educators about what technology means to them. This project brought together the Fred Rogers Center (FRC) initiatives of enhancing human interactions around children and improving the positive use of technology with children. The aim of the project was to understand what technology looks like in everyday classrooms, how educators balance new technologies with existing practice, and how we can strive for equitable access to technology.

With the goal of learning from and supporting educators, the FRC team conducted interviews, focus groups, classroom observations, and hosted a convening with over 100 educators from 43 districts and organizations across Western PA. Here are two resource documents that synthesize what the FRC learned from educators about how they integrate technology into their daily practice.

Beginning this spring, the FRC team will extend this project to learn more about interactions between children and their caregivers and families in the presence of technology. They look forward to sharing more of their learning with you as this project progresses!
