Youth Program Director at MYDC
Job Description:
The Youth Program Director plays a pivotal role in shaping the experiences of over 120 Kindergarten through 8th grade youth who engage with MYDC daily. Collaborating closely with program leaders, the Director ensures our offerings align seamlessly with our mission while embodying our core values in each initiative and ensuring smooth daily operations across all programs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Supervision:
– Provide direct supervision and support to the school-age youth programming teams.
– Foster a cohesive and collaborative team environment, ensuring all efforts align with the MYDC mission.
– Develop and implement a plan that furthers MYDC’s mission and addresses the daily needs of our youth community.
– Advocate for the significance and impact of our youth programs both internally and externally.
2. Program Oversight, Enrollment & Operations:
– Ensure high-quality program delivery, curriculum implementation, and alignment with our mission for our daily youth participants.
– Manage the staff and optimize the daily operations of the program, ensuring they run seamlessly and effectively.
– Oversee program enrollment processes to achieve and maintain program capacity goals.
– Proactively address and resolve any challenges in program delivery.
3. Staff Recruitment & Development:
– Direct and support program staff professional development, recruitment, hiring, and management.
– Spearhead training and growth opportunities for all staff members.
4. Community Engagement & Liaison:
– Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and community members concerning MYDC youth programs, fostering trust and ensuring transparent communication.
– As needed, present MYDC’s initiatives at community events, meetings, and among key stakeholders.
5. Financial Management:
– Oversee and manage program budgets.
– Collaborate with the development team to identify additional funding opportunities or partnership opportunities to enhance program offerings.
6. Evaluation & Reporting:
– Ensure that all program operations adhere to respective federal, state, and local regulations and uphold set standards.
– Assess program outcomes, leveraging data and feedback to refine strategies and enhance offerings.
– Regularly communicate updates to the Executive Director and Board, highlighting program achievements, areas for improvement, and potential growth opportunities.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
– 5+ years of leadership experience in youth program management or analogous roles.
– Demonstrated expertise in staff recruitment, hiring, and mentorship.
– Deep understanding of youth development principles and best practices.
– Established prowess in planning, daily operations management, and community liaison.
– Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
– Acquaintance with technology tools and software relevant to program management and reporting.
In general, the hours are Monday-Friday 11AM to 6:30PM during the school year and 8AM to 5PM during the summer, but hours may fluctuate depending on events or program needs.
