Experience climate change education in a local context by combining classroom learning with climate friendly activities that focus on the arts. Teachers participating in the project will learn to use art as a vehicle to educate their students on the solutions to climate change while repurposing discarded resources. Teachers will explore connections such as (1) visual arts to build critical thinking and collaboration; (2) theater arts to create sustainable behaviors; (3) mindfulness and creativity; and (4) nature journaling that combines art and science to sharpen observational skills. Open to western PA teachers (grades K-12). Educators who complete workshop requirements will be eligible for one Act 48 credit (30-hours).
