Borrow tools in the same way you borrow books—for free, with your library card.
The Tool Library, a project of the Millvale Community Library, is a collection of over 600 hand and power tools for building, plumbing, gardening, automotive and bike repair, cleaning, and more. Any adult with a library card issued by any Allegheny County library, including Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Library, can check out up to five tools a week for free.
This inventory of tools also provides the foundation for free skill-building workshops. Participants of varying skill levels can learn carpentry skills, power tool use and safety, tool maintenance, basic auto mechanics, bike repair, and more. Though some restrictions may apply, workshops are open to all ages.
