SMALLab (Situated Multimedia Arts Learning Lab) was created in 2010 by a team of media experts and researchers at Arizona State University. Eight school districts in the Pittsburgh region are using SMALLab – Burrell, Elizabeth Forward, McKeesport, Penn Hills, Pittsburgh Public, Seneca Valley, Southeastern Greene, and West Allegheny, and with a grant from the the Grable Foundation, they’ve formed the SMALLab consortium.
The consortium will pool resources and work with the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University to develop games, software, and learning tools that the consortium can use to take full advantage of the SMALLab program.
