The Labs is Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s teen-only learning lab. Currently located in three Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh locations (Oakland, East Liberty and Allegheny) for weekly workshops, The Labs provides teenagers with access to equipment, software, and mentors in an innovative learning environment with the focus on creativity and creation!
Through informal workshops, teens can learn to create everything from a robot to a film. With the assistance of mentors (artist educators with backgrounds in a variety of disciplines), teens receive the level of assistance they need in order to learn something new. Do you have a school project that could benefit from the use of video? Or maybe you’d like to record some music you’ve been working on? The Labs can help.
Take part in a workshop, where mentors lead project-based workshops according to a weekly theme, providing software and equipment tutorials; or mess around during an open lab, where you can play games, hang out and use The Labs as your open studio. It’s your chance to learn from awesome experts, so stop by your local library and check it out!
