Flexible seating is a feasible way to address the need to remake learning in today’s classrooms. This tool enables the students as well as the teacher to sharpen critical thinking by exploring different areas of real-world problems via collaboration in an atypical classroom setting.  In doing so, learners are challenged by providing them with choices in the way solutions are sought thereby boosting confidence to take the skills developed from virtual and investigative learning into the community and beyond.

Simultaneously, flexible seating encourages students to establish positive relationships with peers utilizing social skills including the ability to effectively listen along with other 21st century skills, which are vital in today’s job market. In addition, and perhaps most importantly, flexible seating is a non-intrusive tool to meet learners enabling them to participate as an active member of the learning community.
