Michael is a researcher in the area of learning analytics and educational data mining. He Defended Doctor of Philosophy thesis “Providing Service-Based Personalization in an Adaptive Hypermedia System” at the School of Information Sciences, University of Pittsburgh in 2010 (advisor Peter L. Brusilovsky). From 2010 till 2013 – a Post Doctoral Fellow at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute, School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University where he worked with Kenneth R. Koedinger and Geoffrey J. Gordon. Since 2013 until present – Michael work as a Research Scientist at Carnegie Learning, Inc.
