Aparna has over 10 years experience working in the non-profit sector and currently is the Associate Director of Student Programs and Outreach for the Center for Advanced Study of India at the University of Pennsylvania. In Pittsburgh, Aparna is collaborating with a team at Carnegie Mellon University on SocialVR, a browser-based interactive design tool that allows non-technical users aged 8+ to create personalized Virtual Reality (VR) experiences. Aparna spent six years in India where where she founded her own media production company, global rickshaw, to create short films in collaboration with non-profit organizations. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania and holds a MPA from Columbia University. She is a TED Fellow and a former digital mentor with Girls Write Now an after school writing program for at risk youth based in New York City.
