Tresa Varner is the Curator of Education and Interpretation at The Andy Warhol Museum with over 18 years experience in museums. In addition to directing the museum’s numerous educational and interpretative programs, Varner curated About Face, an exhibition of portraits by the photographer Arne Svenson and co-curated the exhibition series The Word of God, which examined major religious texts through the lens of contemporary art. Recent digital projects includes the production of the Warhol’s DIY Pop and tour apps and the remapping, translation and migration of the museum’s online curriculum resources site.
In addition to her work in Pittsburgh, Varner has lead numerous community arts projects in the region and abroad; most recently with contemporary art venues in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing. She is the recipient of the Royal College of Art Graduate Studies Fellowship, England. Varner is also an accomplished artist with a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in printmaking.
