Lindsay Surmacz (a.k.a. The Starry Messenger) uses the kinesthetics and props of circus arts as models in a reimagined portrayal of academic content. The Starry Messenger aims to enrich the learning experience of elementary school students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.), and literacy by making circus arts an engine for cognition, creativity, and communication.

Programs offered by The Starry Messenger incorporate a dramatic arts-based pedagogy that aligns with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and/or Pennsylvania Core Standards. Each program is adaptable for a broad range of venues and ages. The Starry Messenger’s programming is useful for classrooms, libraries, community centers, and intimate theatres.
