Kristen Steele is the Spanish teacher at Western Beaver Jr/Sr High School where she teaches grades 8-12. She teaches Spanish levels 1-4 as well as an introductory Spanish course for middle school students.
Kristen has a passion for finding new and exciting ways to engage her students and immerse them in the Spanish language. She has made strides to fundraise for new technology in her classroom that allows students to participate in various interactive lessons. She often collaborates with the Library Media Specialist to utilize the Library Media Center for lessons and activities. She has contributed to grants to better the Media Center with the Library Media Specialist, including getting Chromebooks. The resources in the Media Center to provide students with creative outlets that use the target language, including video skits produced in the green screen room and voiced-over cartoons using Chromebooks.
Kristen graduated from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s of Science in Secondary Education Spanish and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology in 2010. In addition to these certifications, she received both her English as a Second Language Program Specialist certification and Library Media Specialist certification. Currently, she is working on her Associate’s degree in Information Technology.
