Through his work with Gamut Education, Andrew Sherman is involved in community focused, student centered, and project based learning activities in international settings. Andrew is a Spanish speaker, and has lived and worked in Latin America for the past twenty years.
During his tenure as a school leader in Mexico, Brazil, and Ecuador, school communities implemented the following active learning spaces:
- a sensory-exploratory room, for early childhood students with engagement stations;
- a green classroom with a rammed earth amphitheater and bamboo bridge, to inspire involvement in educating for sustainability;
- the Museon, a design-thinking space for observation, creation, and presentation, with rotating thematic exhibitions;
- and the Learning Commons, an academic work space/laboratory to gather, collaborate and research ideas and practices in education.
