In late 2015, Erica Peterson sought out to combine her two passions- science and early childhood education. Erica is now the Founder & Board President of Science Tots, Inc. Science Tots is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to promote parent involvement in early childhood S.T.E.M. education. Science Tots offers Parent & Child S.T.E.M. workshops for children ages 3-5, Pop-Up Tot Time workshops for parents and children ages 18 months- 3 years old, works with other non-profits and early learning centers to develop Parent & Child workshops to meet the needs of parents, and can be found at community events throughout Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio encouraging parents to try out new S.T.E.M. activities at home.

Erica Peterson possesses a Bachelor of Science in Animal & Nutritional Sciences, a Certificate in Infant & Toddler Education, ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathology) board certification in cytotechnology, and is currently pursuing a Master of Education in S.T.E.M. Education at California University of Pennsylvania. Erica has also served as the President of Pajama Program’s Pittsburgh & Western Pennsylvania Chapter and Founder & President of the Pittsburgh AWIS (Association for Women in Science) Pittsburgh Affiliate Group.
