Erin grew up in Pittsburgh and attended Pittsburgh Public Schools from elementary school through graduation from Brashear High School. She worked in Canada for 8 years as a researcher for the University of Toronto, a civil servant for the Department of Foreign Affairs, and a Campaigner for several non-profit organizations and labor unions. She has worked for the Mayor’s Office of Pittsburgh as a Community Outreach Specialist to engage and train 500+ adults as mentors to Pittsburgh Public School students with the goal of raising the high school graduation rate.
Since joining TechShop in 2015, Erin has created the first company-wide comprehensive STEAM programs for youth. With 13 locations from Tokyo to San Francisco, TechShop is an open access, DIY workshop and fabrication studio.
So far this year TechShop Pittsburgh has engaged 150 low income students in our after school program and summer camp by providing them with full scholarships. In addition to teaching students how to use innovative equipment, Erin is committed to creating partnerships that will create more equitable access to these tools.
