Katie Lockley is the Green and Healthy Schools Senior Director at the Green Building Alliance. She works with educational professionals ranging from superintendents, teachers, and facilities managers to create healthy communities of learning. Katie believes that school personnel can implement sustainable measures in their current role and that schools have the perfect opportunity to create meaningful and lasting change in the sustainability sector. The Green and Healthy Schools Academy provides sustainability focused professional development opportunities (such as the School Sustainability Culture Program), facility benchmarking, and youth programming.
Katie has six years of experience as the Facilities and Sustainability Director of the Environmental Charter School, where she developed a green cleaning program and supported sustainability curriculum and student engagement. She previously worked as a high school English teacher at A. W. Beattie Career Center, where she supported their process to becoming a Green Ribbon School. Katie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from Edinboro University and maintains several professional certifications including WELL AP.
