Janice S. Gebicki is the Director of Education for the United Way of Westmoreland County. A former elementary school teacher and principal, she retired after 35 years of public school service. Jan has also been an adjunct professor at St. Vincent College and has presented many professional development workshops at state and national conferences (NAEYC, PAEYC, Professional Development Schools, Early Literacy, PA Association of Colleges and Teachers). She has been a facilitator for PA Early Childhood Educators Governor’s Institute for four years.

Through her work with the United Way of Westmoreland County, Jan has initiated such children’s’ programs as Pre-K Vision Screening for Children 3-4 Years Old, Raising Readers Parent Clubs, Transition to Kindergarten programs for all Westmoreland and Fayette schools, and Books for Babies which supplies new parents with important developmental resources as well as a first book for newborns.
