The Burgettstown Area School District prides itself on developing students that are creators and makers. Mrs. Ferencuha, Assistant to the Superintendent, works with the Elementary center to provide fun lessons in Burgettstown’s very own Makerspace. Started by her predecessor, Mrs. Ferencuha continues to encourage the teachers at Burgettstown to provide opportunities for their students to take items that some may view as “trash” and use those items to build imaginative pieces of work. In that space, the district has provided: LEGO kits, coding kits, a reading center, and crafts galore—just to name a few. Mrs. Ferencuha understands and appreciates that students learn best through exploration and by allowing students to be creative through their own passions and interests they can achieve and succeed in their educational experiences.
