Deborah Domingues-Murphy has been active with Remake Learning events for many years with a focus on sustainability, computer science and equity. In her classroom, students learn about the UN SDGs and apply them to community projects that address issues they are concerned about. At her school, she has increased the number of females and under represented groups involved with the STEM and robotics programs. She has focused on making computer science accessible to her students and supports her fellow teachers by securing high quality instructional materials and providing professional development opportunities. Deborah successfully secured one of the inaugural PA Smart grants and a Remake Learning Ignite grant to support student access to materials and fund student initiatives in the community. Deborah was the recipient of the TRETC Innovation in Education Award in January 2022. In addition to working with CSforPGH she also is a board member of CSTA Pittsburgh, the educational board for Chatham University’s Eden Hall K-12 program, and an ambassador for the News Literacy Project.
