Molly Dickerson is a maker and Teaching Artist at MAKESHOP (Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh). She began working with youth as an AmeriCorps Ohio College Guide before moving to Pittsburgh to pursue her Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree. In 2012, she joined the team at The Labs @ CLP, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s teen-only learning lab. As a Mentor at The Labs @ CLP, Molly focused on facilitating Photo/Video and Makers’ Studio activities in addition to regular offerings in Music/Audio and Design.
In 2013, Molly transitioned to a full-time Teaching Artist position at MAKESHOP while continuing to assist with The Labs in a smaller capacity. MAKESHOP is a space for informal, process-based learning for visitors of all ages. She leads MAKESHOP’s after school program for middle school students, Club Make, and facilitates Youth Make, an after-hours opportunity for youth ten years and older. Molly earned a BA in Film Studies from The College of Wooster in 2010 and an MLIS from University of Pittsburgh in 2012.
