Brad Ankney is a veteran teacher with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit’s Alternative Education Program. He is certified in Pennsylvania as both a Secondary Mathematics and Special Education Teacher. He has a M.S. in Information Systems from Robert Morris University, an M.S. in Special Education from Waynesburg University and is tinkering with the idea of pursuing a Ph.D.

Brad has been making mathematics relevant to students by incorporating computer science and coding into the mathematics curriculum at Community School West and has had some incredible opportunities to be trained in teaching computer science. He attended a week-long training in Chicago in the summer of 2017, was an Oracle Scholar sponsored attendee at the 2018 Computer Science Teachers annual conference in Omaha, and will be attending Picademy in Mountian View California in June of 2019.

Brad is an active volunteer and his activities include serving as a board member of the Allegheny YMCA, board member of Brightwood Civic Group, founder and volunteer leader of Sto Rox Code Club, and volunteer with STEM Coding Lab, helping to educate community members on coding and computer science by hosting community Hour of Codes.
