Karen Alexander, PhD, formed her organization XRconnectED to build bridges between the educational community and XR technologies. She has years of experience in higher education administration at Rutgers University, including developing a co-curricular educational program with a capstone that put multidisciplinary teams of students to work with local agencies and provided experiential learning about global and local issues.
Dr. Alexander has a broad knowledge of XR technologies (virtual, augmented, and mixed reality and 360 video) and is working to build the XR community in Pittsburgh. She enjoys making 360 videos that feature travel, parks and forests, and civic participation. As a newcomer to Pittsburgh, she is energized by its commitment to education and social justice, and thrilled by the collaborative and helpful environment in the city. In November 2017, she presented at the Immersive Italy conference and 7th European Immersive Education Summit in Lucca, where she provided demos of her 360 video Cities in Protest and presented on the educational possibilities for 360 video. Dr. Alexander is available to give presentations on XR, and would love to talk to other Remake Learning members about immersive technologies and education.
