The mission of the Young Preservationists Association (YPA) is to empower young people to engage their voices in the preservation of historic buildings in their own neighborhoods. YPA educates young people about the value of historic preservation as a key tool for economic and community renewal. They train young people on how to bring their voices into the conversations around shared community history. They provide opportunities for youth participation in preservation activities. They encourage young people by demonstrating the link between the renewal of neighborhoods and their own self-dignity; when an old house is restored, everyone in the community is uplifted. YPA accomplishes its objectives through programs for schools and the public, special events, tours, partnerships, research, book publications, podcasts, videos, training, technical assistance, advocacy, and strategic planning strategies.
