Y Achievers is a signature YMCA of the USA program designed to help teens of color set and pursue educational and career goals, resulting in graduation and acceptance into institutions of higher learning, skilled trades, and other careers. At the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh, Y Achievers expands on this goal by providing mentorship, community connections, and workshop activities designed to give 7th through 11th-grade youth the tools they need to succeed in high school and beyond.

Y Achievers supports students in becoming their best selves. In bi-weekly sessions, scholars explore careers, college, and social justice through group discussions, as well as “World of Work” tours and guest speakers. Scholars also take part in activities to build confidence, strengthen communication skills, improve study habits, and manage stress.
