Reading Ready Pittsburgh is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing access to books and to supporting engagement around books for small children. Reading Ready Pittsburgh is now providing early literacy support to 26 childcare “sites.” The sites range from home visitors and in home childcare centers, to large childcare centers with over 60 children in attendance. Two sites are specifically serving special needs students: The Day School at The Children’s Institute and DePaul School for Hearing and Speech. Reading Ready Pittsburgh is also the community partner with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in the Mon Valley, mailing books to over 1478 children each month. In addition, we have built two Family Reading Nooks; and 11 Little Give-Away Libraries to share gently used books in underserved communities. Since its’ inception in 2018, Reading Ready Pittsburgh has distributed over 17,000 gently used books.
Reading Ready Pittsburgh is dedicated to fostering the love of reading by increasing access to books and encouraging parent engagement.
