The Readiness Institute at Penn State University is a learner-centered, community and future ready outreach initiative funded by the Heinz Endowments.
Vision: The Readiness Institute’s vision is achieved when every learner has the skills, attitudes, and values necessary to design and lead a purposeful life.
Mission: The Readiness Institute’s mission is to enable education, industry, and community partners to coordinate, collaborate, and create experiences for learners to achieve community and future readiness.
Belief: The Readiness Institute’s belief is that Community and Future Readiness is achieved when the learner – regardless of their zip code, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, and ability level – is able to take their skills, their attitudes, and they’re able to design and lead in matters personal, professional and public.
Goals:
- Emanate a learner-centered approach from the needs of learners to increase agency, engage in authentic experience and activities, and align education, industry, and the community.
- Serve as an innovative test solutions resource with tools to help apply a learning transformation that addresses current, but future educational challenges and career choices.
- Provide essential and creative experiences that help foster a counter-narrative to social injustice and systems that are marginalized by exercising practices that challenge intolerance and elevate stimulation in participants.
