Rayne Elementary School in Marion Center Area School District is located in a rural area of Western Pennsylvania. Currently, the number of students receiving free and reduced lunch is over 50%. Many of the students’ parents in the district are considered working poor and there are limited opportunities for employment in the area. The district realizes the need to help their students become global learners who are able to problem-solve and work online from their homes in a rural area.
The elementary principal and staff realize that students are living in an ever-changing world. The staff believes they need to continue to grow and learn so they can best meet the needs of the students who will become the future of their community. The district believes they need to support their students through STEM learning and help them become competitive in their community and throughout the world.
