Pittsburgh CLO is among the largest providers of arts education in the Pittsburgh area.  CLO offers an extensive range of Education and Outreach programs that serve as a model to other arts organizations both locally and nationally. Pittsburgh CLO’s education and outreach programs have a demonstrably positive impact on many young people throughout the region.

Under the umbrella of Pittsburgh CLO’s Academy of Musical Theater, CLO’s Education Department provides nine education and outreach programs that reach more than 50,000 students a year and enrich the lives of thousands of students of all abilities, circumstances and aspirations.  These programs include:

  • The CLO Academy that provides the finest in musical theatre training for young people ages 3-18 whether or not they are able to afford to pay tuition
  • Gallery of Heroes that tours professionally-produced educational musicals about noteworthy people and events to more than 100 schools in diverse communities
  • Creative Vision utilizes musical theatre training to improve the communications skills, focus and behavior of students who are struggling academically and socially in school
  • New Horizons offers musical theater classes to people with disabilities
  • Gene Kelly Awards that celebrates and recognizes achievement in high school musical theater
  • CLO Mini Stars provides intensive training and character development to students who plan to pursue musical theater as a career
  • CLO Internship program that provides summer-long internships in a wide variety of disciplines to talented college students
  • A in Arts program that offers free admissions to CLO productions to high school students who have earned a “A” in a high school arts class
  • Kelly Circle program that offers free admissions to CLO shows to clients of more than 100 human service organizations
