Kids of Steel is a free training program from the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon (P3R) that motivates kids and families to get moving and make healthier food choices. During training, participants complete 25 miles of physical activity at school, during a before- or after-school program, or at home with their families. P3R celebrates the achievements of kids, coaches, and families by bringing everyone together to finish the last mile at a P3R event. The Pittsburgh Kids Marathon is the program’s largest kid race, held during the Pittsburgh Marathon weekend.
Kids of Steel is part of P3R’s Youth Programming Department, which provides opportunities for everyone under the age of 18 to join the Pittsburgh running community. The deparment also offers 5K training plans and support for middle school run clubs and cross country teams.
