Hip Hop on LOCK

Located in Pittsburgh, PA and headed by Program Director, Beth Snyder, Hip Hop On LOCK has become one of western Pennsylvania’s premier mentoring and arts education programs, using hip hop music, culture, dance and more to teach relevant life-long skills in leadership, organization, cooperative economics, and knowledge of the music business. In the program, students work together to create a mock record label and then create executive positions in order to write, produce, record, mix, master, and develop their own project. They participate in Music, Sonic Science, and Unlock (English skills development) to create quality music and a quality product. They interact with music professionals and, ultimately, are asked to give back to their own schools and communities through teaching. For more information, email info@hiphoponlock.org.
