With an enrollment of 2,734 students, Greensburg Salem School District is located 35 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, PA, in the center of Westmoreland County. The district covers 51 square miles and a total population of 26,744 residents, including urban, suburban, and rural populations. Students live in the City of Greensburg, Salem Township, and the boroughs of South Greensburg and Southwest Greensburg. Greensburg is the county seat and serves as the business, industrial, cultural, and political center of the central Westmoreland County area.
The Greensburg Salem school board, staff, and community work together to provide high quality education that extends beyond the walls of the school. The belief that “effort creates ability” has led to a challenging curriculum and has helped to make Greensburg Salem students among the most academically competitive in the county. This is evidenced by consistent improvements in SAT and PSSA scores over the last several years, with district students scoring well above state averages.
