FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded in 1989 to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology. Based in Manchester, NH, the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity designs accessible, innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills.
For 30 years, FIRST® has combined the rigor of STEM learning with the fun and excitement of traditional sports and the inspiration that comes from community through programs that have a proven impact on learning, interest, and skill-building inside and outside of the classroom. FIRST® serves over 689,000 students in over 110 countries at 3,700 events worldwide. Over 3,000 scholarship opportunities exist from over 200 providers totaling over $80 million.
FIRST® programs, preK-12, support educators by engaging students in STEM learning and preparing them for the future through hands-on fun while helping kids transfer STEM concepts to real-world applications.
