Dreams of Hope, founded in 2003, is Pittsburgh’s premier arts-focused organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, asexual, and allied (LGBTQA+) youth. Through the power of the arts, Dreams of Hope provides young people a welcoming environment to grow in confidence, express themselves, develop as leaders, and learn to make positive changes in their communities. Dreams of Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Dreams of Hope provides in-class programs that integrate with curriculum, out-of-class programs that create community for LGBTQA+ youth, and professional development for adults who work with young people.
Dreams of Hope creates programs that:
- Provide a safe space and community for youth
- Raise youth voices
- Develop youth leaders
- Educate youth to create art to tell their own stories, and to facilitate challenging conversations about identity
- Educate people on LGBTQA+ topics, to increase understanding and acceptance
