Dreams of Hope

Dreams of Hope, founded in 2003, is Pittsburgh’s premier arts-focused organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, asexual, and allied (LGBTQA+) youth. Through the power of the arts, Dreams of Hope provides young people a welcoming environment to grow in confidence, express themselves, develop as leaders, and learn to make positive changes in their communities. Dreams of Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Dreams of Hope provides in-class programs that integrate with curriculum, out-of-class programs that create community for LGBTQA+ youth, and professional development for adults who work with young people.

Dreams of Hope creates programs that:
  • Provide a safe space and community for youth
  • Raise youth voices
  • Develop youth leaders
  • Educate youth to create art to tell their own stories, and to facilitate challenging conversations about identity
  • Educate people on LGBTQA+ topics, to increase understanding and acceptance
